New Year, New Project!

Are you finally ready to start writing and/or illustrating that book you've been talking about for so long? Good. Because we're ready to help.
Our next two-week sprint class runs from January 24 to February 4, 2022. We meet via Zoom on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at:
9:30 to 11:00 am Pacific Time
11:30 am to 1:00 pm Central Time
12:30 to 2:00 pm Eastern Time
The cost is $360.
You'll be shocked by how much you can accomplish in just six classes and a few hours between classes. Look at some of the creations from our last class.
We welcome students of all ages and abilities. Former participants have worked on picture books, novels, graphic novels, memoirs, and one advice book.
Participation is limited, so send in your application now to guarantee a spot. All you need is a notebook, pen and pencil, and a computer so you can connect with us on Zoom. If you want to take your art game to the next level, dig out your colored pencils and markers.
Questions about the classes? Contact Kate Klise. Questions about applying or payment? Contact Sarah Klise. We're also booking dates for school and library virtual visits, so let us know if you're interested!

Summer 2021 Master Classes

Once upon a time there were a lot of kids (and adults) who were stuck inside their homes because of a nasty virus. Rather than feel bored or cranky, these folks decided to be creative and productive. They signed up for an online master class with award-winning author Kate Klise and her illustrator sister Sarah Klise.
With the Klise sisters' help and encouragement, these brave souls wrote books. They illustrated them, too. The classes weren’t easy. In fact, they were downright challenging. Kate insisted the students work like real authors. They had to think, write, rethink, rewrite, edit, and polish their stories. Sarah helped bring the stories to life with art and design. She showed the students how to sketch, draw, shadow, and create compelling visuals with characters and text.
Sound like fun? We think so, too. We've been leading these classes for many months now and can say without hesitation you won't be disappointed. Here are the details for our summer classes:

Online Master Classes with the Klise Sisters

Life has changed a lot since this photo was taken in January 2020 at the American Library Association conference in Philadelphia. Sarah (green coat) and I (blue sweater) were thrilled to meet the incomparable Ann Symons, past president of ALA and the Dame Judi Dench of the library world. None of us had any idea how different the world would be all these months later.
But here we are. It's easy to focus on the many things we can't do right now. But how about focusing instead on the things we can? Why not use this unexpected time to write and illustrate a book?
That's what we've been doing with people all over the country in our online master classes. And dare we say: It's ridiculously fun.
If you've ever wanted to write a book (fiction or non-fiction, picture book or chapter book), consider joining us in November.
