Sign Up Now for Our February Master Class

If the state of the world has you feeling like this, consider joining our next Zoom master class (Feb 15-26). It's for anyone who wants to write and/or illustrate a book. We meet for two weeks, M-W-F , for 90 minutes per class. You'll be amazed how much you can get done in just two weeks. Past participants have written and illustrated picture books, advice books, even novels--not in two weeks, but in a month. We offer one-on-one guidance and feedback in a friendly, small-group setting. Friendships are forged. Progress is made. Anxiety is put in its place. You'll be reminded how good it feels to make something. The fee is $360. Sign-up information right here. If you have any questions, e-holler.

Online Master Classes with the Klise Sisters

Life has changed a lot since this photo was taken in January 2020 at the American Library Association conference in Philadelphia. Sarah (green coat) and I (blue sweater) were thrilled to meet the incomparable Ann Symons, past president of ALA and the Dame Judi Dench of the library world. None of us had any idea how different the world would be all these months later.
But here we are. It's easy to focus on the many things we can't do right now. But how about focusing instead on the things we can? Why not use this unexpected time to write and illustrate a book?
That's what we've been doing with people all over the country in our online master classes. And dare we say: It's ridiculously fun.
If you've ever wanted to write a book (fiction or non-fiction, picture book or chapter book), consider joining us in November.

You're Invited to Join Our July Master Class

Once upon a time there were a lot of kids (and adults) who were stuck inside their homes because of a nasty virus. Rather than feel bored or cranky, these folks decided to be creative and productive. They signed up for a two-week online master class with award-winning author Kate Klise and her illustrator sister Sarah Klise.
With the Klise sisters' help and encouragement, these brave souls wrote picture books. They illustrated them, too. The classes weren’t easy. In fact, they were downright challenging. Kate insisted the students work like real authors. They had to think, write, rethink, rewrite, edit, and polish their stories. Sarah helped bring the stories to life with art and design. She showed the students how to sketch, draw, shadow, and create compelling visuals with characters and text.
Sound like fun? We think so, too. Here are the details for our next session:
