Kate and I get a lot of mail.
And sometimes a letter can sort of stop us dead in our tracks. Why? Because it is a big reminder of why we do what we do. And why we are so grateful for readers like Alyssa.
P.S. Alyssa, you will find something in your mailbox next week from us.
P.P.S. YOU are so awesome.

Alyssa's note:
My name is Alyssa. I'm about to turn 24 this coming Monday, May 11. But recently, I've been collecting a ton of children's picture books and comics for inspiration and of course, to read. I've especially been looking for books I enjoyed when I was in elementary and middle school. One of those books was Trial By Jury. I absolutely LOVED that book, and was lucky enough to have been able to borrow it from a friend. I can confidently say Trial By Jury was one of the books that inspired me to write short stories of my own. It also helped me to start journaling, which I still do regularly to this day.
To be honest, I had forgotten about Trial By Jury (and a lot of other books I read when I was younger until I started looking for them again) until I was mopping the floor at Chipotle, where I work, and all of a sudden I remembered a character named Anna Conda and an animal menagerie and BOOM I had to get a copy of Trial By Jury for
myself (along with the Regarding the... series!). I was also
wondering if Trial By Jury is still being printed?
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a new copy from any
bookstores around me.
I just wanted to thank you and Sarah so much for being an inspiration to me as an artist. Your stories meant a lot to me as a child and helped me find my own sense of humor and writing style, as well as encouraged me to draw more.
Thank you guys, again, for being so awesome.
Sincerely,
Alyssa
