It's hard for me to think of a library more beautiful than the Ames Free Library in North Easton, Mass. This is where I'm happily spending the month of August, serving as the library's writer-in- residence.
This is also where you can find something fun to do almost every day of the week. They even offer free plays on this cool stage behind the library.

This was a production of Robin Hood I saw a few days ago. It's kinda perfect they put on plays here because years ago, Winthrop Ames lived in Queset House, which is the stone house with blue trim right behind the stage. Winthrop (great name) was a famous Broadway producer. He often brought his theater friends here for weekends of fun, frivolity, and probably a glass of lemonade or two in this garden, which he designed. Wouldn't Winthrop love to know that people are still enjoying his house and garden?
